There are many health benefits you can reap from being physically active. You do not need to spend hours doing it since you only need 30 minutes several days a week. Here are some ways to be active at home, with your kids, and at work.
At Home:
- Do handyman tasks such as gardening, raking the leaves, or shoveling snow. These are great exercises since you utilize many muscles simultaneously.
- Go up and down the stairs.
- Squat when you vacuum, wash the dishes, cook, blowdry your hair, or put on makeup.
- Contract your calf muscles when you stand on your tiptoes or walk to improve your balance.
With Kids:
- Play outdoors with your family.
- Have your kids help with the chores.
- Walk, run or do other activities while your kids are doing something else.
- Purchase equipment to help you be active at home, such as dumbbells or a skipping rope.
At Work:
- Walk for 15 minutes after eating lunch.
- Do exercises in your work area, such as stretching every hour.
- Walk around your office or house frequently.
- Walk or run up and down the stairs several times a day.
