Since heart diseases can be prevented, Canadians can have a healthy heart if they choose to.
Even though heart health is accessible to everyone, many women are not diagnosed and treated properly when they have cardiovascular disease. Studies are very limited as well. This resulted in cardiovascular diseases becoming the most common cause of death among Canadian women. In fact, there are more cardiovascular-related deaths compared to all cancer deaths in the country. Nevertheless, there is a way to resolve this.
Health Hearts Canada advocates the change needed in society to make sure that women receive the same information and care as men. We hope to see women with better quality of life. This means we want fewer of them in emergency rooms suffering or dying due to cardiovascular diseases.
Our organization works with a renowned heart organization in Canada to create programs that can help make healthcare better, increase heart disease awareness in women, and conduct more comprehensive research focusing on women. We want to learn ways to manage and treat heart diseases, deal with the diseases’ psychological effects, and adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent the disease, among many others.
